- What you are seeing is improved modem technology. The older modems
- were more susceptible to line noise disconnects (picking up an
- extension, call waiting beeps, various naturally occurring
- snap/crackle/pops on the line). Much has been put into developing
- modems that will stay online until told to disconnect. I haven't seen
- modems or software that is specifically setup to disconnect on a call
- waiting beep. You may be able to setup your modem to where the call
- waiting beep will disconnect it, but it may also be more prone to
- other types of disconnects also.
